Amazon Kindle Goes International With Global Wireless

Amazon kindle Gets Jet Set

In a move to try and capture a slice of the international electronic reader marketplace, Amazon has announced the kindle International Edition. This is a timely move for the internet retailing giant as the Christmas shopping season is upon us and completion abroad ramps up.

In the last few months several manufactures have released their own electronic reader products overseas including iRex, BeBook, the Cool-er Reader, Plastic Logic, the Samsung SNE-50K and the CyBook Opus. The majority of these come from Europe as it has the next biggest reading market next to the United States.

The International kindle will use AT&T's mobile network while in the USA and that means that it runs on a GSM network. Most countries around the world use the GSM network and so your International kindle will work in any of those countries. Amazon lists over 100 countries including: the United Kingdom, mainland Europe, Brazil, South Africa, India, Australia, Japan, Korea, Taiwan and China to name a few.

Now, in any of these 100 countries you will be able to download instantly virtually any book, magazine or newspaper that you desire, even international editions such as the UK Times, the Shanghai Daily or the French Le Monde.

You can order your International Kindle Electronic Reader today from Amazon.com for a new low price of $259.00.

UPDATE: Readers can now get the Amazon kindle in Canada!!!
